Course description:
This 2 day face-to-face short course offers participants an opportunity to learn about the orthotic management of musculoskeletal (MSK) disorders of the foot and ankle in a group setting (maximum 20 participants). The experienced faculty of Orthotists will share their knowledge and skills in both theory and practical sessions.
Prior to the commencement of the course, registrants will be asked to read four designated full text journal articles.
During the course, participants will attend taught theoretical sessions mixed with active learning which will involve dividing into smaller groups to interpret x-rays and assess each other’s feet and ankles with feedback and guidance from the faculty team.
The course offers participants an intimate, focused, and friendly learning environment away from the bustle of everyday clinical work to refresh their knowledge with best available evidence and equip them with the skills to enable them to build their confidence and MSK practice.
Aims:
This event aims to equip Orthotists and other AHP’s regularly involved in treating adult MSK foot and ankle conditions with the assessment, diagnostic and image interpretation skills to enable them to differentially diagnose and holistically manage Musculoskeletal foot and ankle conditions.

Learning Outcomes:
By the end of this event the participant will be able to:
Describe normal Foot and Ankle function
Describe a range of MSK Foot and Ankle pathologies
Define the tests required for differential diagnosis of a range of Musculoskeletal Foot and Ankle pathologies
Demonstrate competence in interpreting the outcomes of a range of diagnostic tests
Utilise imaging as part of the MSK patient assessment
Demonstrate the ability to differentially diagnose a range of Musculoskeletal Foot and Ankle conditions
Perform a thorough biomechanical examination to determine the biomechanical deficit
Establish an evidence-based holistic treatment plan to address the presenting issue
Generate a detailed evidence-based orthotic prescription, management plan including anticipated outcome
Intended Participants:
Orthotists who have not previously attended the “Assessment, Diagnosis and Treatment of Musculoskeletal Foot and Ankle Problems for Orthotists” course
AHP’s regularly involved in treating adult MSK foot and ankle conditions
and
Orthotists who attended the “Assessment, Diagnosis and Treatment of Musculoskeletal Foot and Ankle Problems for Orthotists” between 2015 – 2016

Course description:
This 1-day face to face short course offers participants the opportunity to learn about the entire digital end-to-end process. From shape capture to rectification and design to manufacturing the final 3D printed device. During the course participants will learn about all 3D Printing technologies, our research and development projects and the benefits of 3D
printing. take part in practical sessions on scanning with both iPads and iPhones and casting techniques with E-Cast and C-Form tube. Following this there will be demonstrations about digital rectification and design.

Spine and Lower Limb Anatomy Course March 2025
Course Description:
BAPO are proud to present the upcoming Spine and Lower Limb Anatomy course to be held on Friday 7th March in the Human Anatomy Resource Centre, University of Liverpool. The course represents an exciting opportunity for Orthotists and Prosthetists to gain a unique insight into the human body using cadaveric material and the latest in digital technology. The morning session will focus on the spine, hip and thigh and the afternoon session will examine the knee, lower leg and foot. You will be able to refresh your anatomical knowledge by attending a lecture by a resident academic before visiting the laboratories, where
anatomy demonstrators will be on hand to assist you in examining the cadavers. Here, you will be able to gain a thorough understanding of the complete anatomy and apply it to every day clinical practice.
Learning Objectives
This event aims to equip clinicians with the knowledge of the spine and lower limb anatomy required to effectively treat various pathologies in clinical practice. The course content will
concentrate on joints, muscle attachments, nerves, and the circulatory system and will be delivered through lectures and prosections.

Description:
This symposium focused on the application of outcome measures in lower limb orthotic practice. Acknowledging the challenges of the current climate, BAPO promotes the routine use of these measures. This event served as a platform for Orthotists to exchange insights and experiences regarding outcome measures.
Learning Outcomes:
1. Identify and understand various outcome measures used in lower limb orthotic practice.
2. Gain an appreciation for the International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health (ICF).
3. Evaluate baseline and follow-up measurements in relation to the ICF.
4. Explore goal-setting strategies within orthotic management.
5. Discuss the assessment of functioning, activities, and participation through outcome measurements.
Intended Participants:
Orthotists and postgraduate students experienced in orthotic practice, along with other Allied Health Professionals (AHPs) working in orthotics. This event is open to BAPO members and non-members.
